A couple of weeks ago we had the last stop of the Kitesurf-Trophy on the island Fehmarn. The spot itself is far away from being the most adorable beach to go to but if u r lucky having side offshore winds u’ll have really good fun there. In the first round I had to go against Marvin Heimke from St. Peter Ording. I had a solid heat landing a KGB, kiteloop handle pass, s-bend kung-fu pass, blind judge, slim-chance and a frontmobe. So I advanced. In the next heat I was up against Mario Rodwald. The wind dropped slightly to 10 knotes. I could at least land a slim-chance, backmobe, blind judge and a frontmobe. But as the wind was too light I struggled the rest of the heat staying in the judging area. In the end, it really doesnt matter what tricks u show against Mario cos he is a hell of a rider and pushes the sports so much. The final was again Stefan Permien against Mario Rodwald. Mario cld win again. I was so keen on the double elimination to not always be kicked out by the German Champion. The forecast looked promising. Eventually, they run through the doubles for the youngsters and women. So no double for the men. I was dissapointed as there was enough time to go through it.
Yesterday I went rock-climbing with friends in Berlin. That was super fun. Such a shame there’s nothing like that where I live. Today we’re going paddling over the weekend. So that’ll be fun as well..
The new Lunacy 2010 boards arrived a couple of days ago.. So we took the chance and took some pics and rocked the new boards.. Photographer as usual is David Sonnabend who has taken most of the pics you can see on my page. The board feels so good under your feet. They have an insane pop and the landings are super easy to control. You see - I am super stoked.. You’ll find the pics HERE
Next weekend there’ll be the last Kitesurf-Trophy stop on Fehmarn Let’s see, how that’ll go for me..
Friday, the Double Elimination was ridden. Andy Yates could win many heats. In the end he just could be stopped by Youri Zoon who was killing it again. Andy came fourth. Youri won against Aaron Hadlow in a super close heat. So Aaron ended up third. Youri got a bit tired and lost against Kevin Langeree who has won the event for the third time. Joanna Litwin could defend her first place, so Bruna Kajiya came second and Karolina Winkowska third..
Tomorrow there’ll be more news with a hung over and a pair of sunnies..
The wind was pretty light the last days, so there has been many races so far. The wind stayed til early middays and died off completely and it started raining. That’s why we decided to get up at 6am the other day and go to a lagune to go kiting again. When we arrived the conditions where epic. Super flat water und good winds up to 18 knotes. We set up super quickly when the wind died off completely again after 10min. So that meant back to the event and take care for the Kitelife tent.
This morning the North Sea was super rough. The wind was blowing with about 44 knotes in the gust. The sand was flying over the beach and in the eyes. Only the judges were safe in the judging tower of rain and sandstorms.
Spectecular jumps up to 12 meters could be seen til the late evening when the single elimination was ridden. Kevin Langaree advanced before Aaron Hadlow and Youri Zoon. It was a super bad day for the German riders as Stefan Permien’s leash broke, Jan Schiegnitz’ kite popped and Rick Jensen’s bar broke as well as a screw of his bindings.
Special guest was Ruben Lenten who popped up sometimes in the judging area and did some megaloops. Yeah!
Let’s see what tomorrow brings when the sun is shining at the beach of st. Peter Ording.
