The wind was pretty light the last days, so there has been many races so far. The wind stayed til early middays and died off completely and it started raining. That’s why we decided to get up at 6am the other day and go to a lagune to go kiting again. When we arrived the conditions where epic. Super flat water und good winds up to 18 knotes. We set up super quickly when the wind died off completely again after 10min. So that meant back to the event and take care for the Kitelife tent.
This morning the North Sea was super rough. The wind was blowing with about 44 knotes in the gust. The sand was flying over the beach and in the eyes. Only the judges were safe in the judging tower of rain and sandstorms.
Spectecular jumps up to 12 meters could be seen til the late evening when the single elimination was ridden. Kevin Langaree advanced before Aaron Hadlow and Youri Zoon. It was a super bad day for the German riders as Stefan Permien’s leash broke, Jan Schiegnitz’ kite popped and Rick Jensen’s bar broke as well as a screw of his bindings.
Special guest was Ruben Lenten who popped up sometimes in the judging area and did some megaloops. Yeah!
Let’s see what tomorrow brings when the sun is shining at the beach of st. Peter Ording.
For the last couple of days there has been the Worldcup stop in St. Peter Ording. It’s been pretty awesome here.. Kitelife Village consists of 19 tents with brands and stuff to test. So it is definitely a big and really well-organised event.
We started with the trials on Saturday morning as the wind looked really good. I had to go against Lewis Crathern and my good friend Jan Schiegnitz. That was the first time that we had to ride against each other. I was super happy with my heat as I landed all my tricks. So I was positive that I maybe advanced. That’s what at least other people thought as well. But - well I didn’t.
Unfortunately besides that I stepped into a huge piece of glas and injured my foot pretty badly. I hope that it is healing fast. There is still a decipline to win. Race :) When I thought that last year had been the top of board technology and development, I was mistaken. Never have I seen such things. Fins with the size of a bluewhale. Mine are smaller. I am really ashamed..
Looks like there’s gonna be some wind tomorrow so hopefully we’ll see some more action from the main-event. The first two heats of the main-event has already been ridden. And hey - Youri is definitely killing it. On the whole the riding level is extremely high. So hope to see u here..
Hey guys..
After a year on my hard drive and waiting to be published, I wanna publish all pics which were meant to be printed in magazine. Quite a few you have already seen in magazines. As all the pics are from last year, the gear has changed, so they are not up to date anymore, but still good to have a look at them. So here we go..
I have also published the Road Trip Story through Australia for you. Just have a look at the stories and you’ll find them.. Enjoy.
Next week is exams’ time for me. So heaps to study. After having done that, I’ll focus to get fit for the PKRA stop in St. Peter Ording. So see you there..
