After a couple of days full with rain, wetness and grey sky, we wanna see coloured motion pictures. We´ve driven from the little cute village Denmark (2.400) to the next bigger town Albany (24.000) and getting warm in a small comfortable cinema hall. It´s being shown American glimmerrock in shape of Iron Man.
You can still recognize the shock the city has because of the shark attack and the main beach Middelton Beach, where it happened, is still closed. They have been trying to chase the sharks out of the bay to the ocean, but concerning to the bad weather, they´ve stopped it for a while. Further we get to know that the sharks were chasing a group of dolphins, since of them was ill. Well, by now does nobody know where the sharks are.
The day after, strong westerly winds were shaking and knocking at our bus when we got up. We´ve found an excellent flatwater spot and we´ve been sick of hanging around without wind in the rain for days and we just wanna feel the salty taste of freedom in our faces again. Does an Australian shark like Germans? And after all, a kiteboarder doesn´t look like a swimmer and we are not planning to go in the water at 7.30am. Nevertheless, we´ve decided to go to the police to get more information. They wanted us to go the Department of Fisheries because they are in authority for that. They are looking pretty weird, when we asked, but get the information that nobody knows where the sharks are at the moment and that there are sharks anyway. We can do what we want, but “It´s on your own risk.”
Well, we´re going to the bay. The wind is gusty but the water is nearly everywhere just hip deep. I have to wear the good old winter wetsuit and it reminds me of the good old Baltic Sea. You could have seen our smile through our long beards for the next two hours.
We´ve decided again to go to the social welfare in shape of the local cinema to get dry. This time it´s shown an Australian movie called Cactus and we are happy to understand nearly every insider joke like (God drives a Holden) and reward ourselves with fastfood.
By now we have been thinking about heading north and escape from the rainy south. We are back in Denmark for another day to catch some waves. I love that bay. But in the end it is too wet and we´re going. To get the van complete dry again is not only good for him. So we are back in sunny Perth for a couple of days to recharge our electronic devices and wash clothes.
To quote Nik: All that glitters is not wicked. But it belongs to our adventure package we have booked.
In a couple of days the caravan will go up north. It is supposed to be windy and sunny there. We are excited.
On this note, look forward to the Nordic Adventures.

Addendum: While I was surfing on the internet, I found more information about the sharks. They are still in the bay.
